The Meeting of Failures: Act I is the first part of a projected trilogy engaging with extended adolescence, misdirected ambition, authenticity, hipster politics and the politics of hipsters. It follows the narrator Francis as he seeks to escape the nihilistic bubble of contemporary East London by winning over the enigmatic Savannah Palace.

The narrative is interpreted and illustrated by emerging photographers from London, most notably Rasha Kahil. The printing was done using a Risograph, and the book is section-stitched with hand-foiling on the six-page cover.

The Meeting of

Failures

By Francis

I don’t remember when I first saw Savannah. In any case it was actually before we met, since she is one of those girls who animate a scene for a certain time. They seem to embody, however precariously, the collective possibility of a moment. As it happened, success came very easily to her. As her name began to circulate on the lips of the establishment, filtering up imperceptibly from the local magazines and art galleries where she had first begun to grab attention, our stocks also rose. Like us, but amplified a hundred fold, her impact at present remained undefined....

'The world is divided into two categories: failures and unknowns.' Francis (Picabia)
